Free Conversational English Classes

Anyone who would like to learn English or to speak English more fluently is welcome! People from many native language groups attend our classes.

We offer three levels of instruction:

• Beginners Class - for those who speak little or no English
• Intermediate Classes - for those who know enough English to "get by"
• Advanced Class - For those who want to improve their pronunciation and accent, and who want to feel more comfortable conversing at work, at school, and in the community

 

Frequently Asked Questions

When are the classes?
All classes are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. These classes meet during the "school year" (from September to May). Our classes are now on summer break. Classes will resume on September 15, 2009.

Where are the classes?
All classes meet at First Baptist Church, 3722 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square PA 19073. Click here for directions.

How much do the classes cost?
There is no charge for the classes; they are provided without cost for the people of our area by the members and friends of First Baptist Church of Newtown Square. However, all students will be asked to purchase a text and workbook costing $25.00.

When may someone enroll as a student?
You may register as a student on any Tuesday night when classes are held, even if the school semester is already in progress!

How do I know which class to enroll in?
Anyone joining our classes has an interview with one of the staff of the school. We will then place you in a level according to your current ability.

Do you provide childcare?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide childcare at this time.

Must I attend your church services?
No, you do not have to attend, but you are welcome to! These free English classes are part of our service to the community and do not obligate you to attend our church.
